The Chairs symbolise the power a Governor had to represent the monarch.
When the role of Governor was abolished in 1972, the Chairs of State were officially retired.

Ja, das stimmt, aber es ist nur eine Referenz von mehreren. Auch wenn es vielleicht ein wenig "hölzern" klingt, ist es doch ein gängiger Begriff. Im Übrigen sind chair of state und chair of throne zwei Paar Stiefel.

: Governor dürfte eigentlich verfassungsmäßig Governor-General heißen und Staatsstühle geht gut im Plural. Jedenfalls ist Thron der republikanischen - sowohl römischkatholischen als auch jüdischen - Minderheit von NI zuliebe zu vermeiden.
