Arabic term

ألوك

Arabic to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Hi everyone,

This is from a Sudanese text.

How does the verb ألوك fit in here?

I'm guessing it means to have a look at or page through?

وبجانبي كومة من الصحف القديمة ألوك أخبارها القديمة المهترئة عندما أريد عندما يعصف بي الحنين للقراءة.

Thank you.

Also:

Read over and over

The point here isn't only reading the news, but the repetitive nature of the verb. It comes from the verb يلوك which literally means "to chew".
