passport from Haiti
This is a field on the data or bio page of a Haitian passport issued this year. There are things you would expect: date of birth, nationality, height. And then right next to "Sex," there's "CAN." In this field there is a six-digit number. I've translated bio pages like this before, but there was no "CAN." Images on Google sometimes show the "CAN", sometimes not. I would appreciate any insights. Thank you!

You can teach AI pretty well to recognise patterns in pictures and sounds, but to expect AI to really understand a text is extremely foolish.
Here is a lead from ChatGPT, but I could not validate using Google searches so you would need to dig further to confirm or refute this meaning. Good luck!

As of my last update in September 2021, "CAN" on a Haitian passport refers to a Convention d'Application Nationale. It indicates that the passport is valid for travel to countries that have an agreement or convention with Haiti to recognize this specific passport type. However, passport regulations and terminologies can change over time, so it's always best to verify this information with the latest official sources or the Haitian government's passport issuing authority.
