¿Cómo se traduciría "deposit franchise" a nuestro idioma? He buscado en la web y no encuentro un término que me convenza, aunque tampoco en inglés se utiliza mucho.
Por supuesto, sé lo que es una "franquicia", pero me cuesta ver cómo funciona aquí.
"To be sure, rising inflation reduces the true value of banks’ liabilities (deposits) by increasing their “deposit franchise,” an asset that is not on their balance sheet. Since banks still pay near 0% on most of their deposits, even though overnight rates have risen to 4% or more, this asset’s value rises when interest rates are higher. Indeed, some estimates suggest that rising interest rates have increased US banks’ total deposit-franchise value by about $1.75 trillion.
But this asset exists only if deposits remain with banks as rates rise, and we now know from Silicon Valley Bank and the experience of other US regional banks that such stickiness is far from assured. If depositors flee, the deposit franchise evaporates, and the unrealized losses on securities become realized as banks sell them to meet withdrawal demands. Bankruptcy then becomes unavoidable."

Coincido con Luis Sosa en que hay una diferencia si se usa en el sector financiero ("franquicia de los depósitos", en plural, porque es el dinero acumulado formado por todos los depósitos que tiene un banco, generalmente no respaldado. De allí que exista el riesgo de quiebra ante un retiro súbito por parte de los depositantes en momentos de pánico bancario) a si se usa en el sector comercial o de negocios (p. ej., en "voy a abrir un local de la franquicia KFC")."

There should be a deposit agreement, setting out what territory is being secured and how long for, as well as how and when any deposit would be refunded.
