SPAIN. AFAIK, the abbreviation "adq." usually stands for "adquerido" (acquired), but in the context of the string I have to translate, I don't know what to do with it:

"Cervezas (grado alc.vol.adq.

@Toni Well for one thing, the next string to be translated (Cervezas (grado alc.vol.> 1,2% vol. y <= 2,8% vol.) , while similar, does not have the "adq." component of the previous one. Now, thanks to Liz's solution, I'm simply translating them all as ASV
Hernan Casasbuenas Mar 28, 2023:
adquirido I think Toni and Liz are right: acquired is correct; you had it right from the beginning.
Toni Castano Mar 28, 2023:
@Neil I don´t quite understand your misgivings against "adquirido" in your text. The meaning of "adq." is the same as usual in this context, i.e. "adquirido" being the full expression "grado alcohólico volumétrico adquirido", which translates into English as "alcoholic strength by volume".
Hope this helps.

Note from asker:
Thanks. I knew 'alcoholic strength by volume', but the "acquired" bit still puzzled me. I suppose strength is 'acquired' through fermentation...

7. Calculation. Acquired alcoholic strength by volume = ASV measured X 200 X MV. TS. ASV measured = alcohol content given by the density meter, as % vol.
