‘Sorry, guv,’ Potting said, looking sheepish at the reprimand.
‘Was just thinking it would be harder for me to get on in the force
today, especially with having to compete with fast-track grad
schemes.

A "fast-track grad schemes" sem világos (ez lenne a következő kérdésem), így nem világos, hogy itt a "get on it" azt jelenti-e hogy "bejutni" a rendőrségre, vagy boldogulni...
