English term

get on in

English to Hungarian Other Other krimi
Kissé vicces beszélgetés egy közrendőr és a főnöke között.

I was a bit rubbish at geography at school, guv,’ Potting said.
‘Alleuvian plains and all that.’
‘Alluvial, I think you mean, Norman,’ Grace corrected him.
The DS nodded, almost wistfully. ‘Like I said, I was a bit rubbish
at—’
‘Thank you, Norman,’ he said, firmly.
‘Sorry, guv,’ Potting said, looking sheepish at the reprimand.
‘Was just thinking it would be harder for me to get on in the force
today, especially with having to compete with fast-track grad
schemes.

A "fast-track grad schemes" sem világos (ez lenne a következő kérdésem), így nem világos, hogy itt a "get on it" azt jelenti-e hogy "bejutni" a rendőrségre, vagy boldogulni...
ezt a definíciót találtam
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/it/dizionario/inglese/get-i...
to start to take part in an activity that is already happening because you will win an advantage from it:
A Japanese company tried to get in on the deal.
Szerintem "bejutni", csak ehhez tudnom kéne, a mondat végén lévő kifejezés jelentését is..
Előre is köszönöm
