This appears in a tax registration document from the Secretaría de Hacienda in Colombia. It is a form that gives details of what taxes the company is registered to pay.
One line of the document has these 3 fields:

Actividad Económica Código Placa

Código and placa both have numbers below them.

"Matrícula No," [sic] has already appeared, which I translated as registration number. An ideas for "placa"?

Helena Chavarria Jan 10, 2023: Anyway the Asker has made it quite clear that 'placa' in this case has nothing to do with cars. Members of the police force wear 'placas' and other people, too. It's some sort of number plate but we haven't been able to find out if there's an equivalent term in English.
Helena Chavarria Jan 10, 2023: @Jesús It's 'numero de matrícula' in Spanish from Spain but that might not be the case in other Spanish-speaking countries.

Patrick Bearne (asker) Jan 3, 2023: As a result of the foregoing, I don't think "license plate" is appropriate in the context here since it seems to bear a specific relation to motor vehicles. I opted for "license number" in the final translation, as a more general expression, also in view of the limited number of indications offered by the context.
