This is what it sounds like to me. "Milly"

Milly clearly refers to the photo of the lady.
Although "watering the roses" sounds like an obvious choice, I think the inaudible part here is the "watering" vs "walking in" possibilities. I cannot make out which one he is saying because it as at the "W" that the character began to swallow his words. But either choice would probably hold the same implications of meaning.

The undertone here is ironic, i.e. "if you could see me know Milly you would be in shock, so it is good that you are lying underneath the roses in ignorance" - that is the suggested meaning.
Her name is clearly "Milly", from what he said.

....he is referring to what his deceased aunt/grandmother (or whatever she is), called Milly, who luckily for him, cannot see him trying to put on a corset - that is the irony!
