Spanish term

RC1-RC5

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. I'm translating a surgical pathology report and this has shown up:

PO1-A1 Tumor. A2 Parénquima no tumoral. RC1-RC5. IT.

B) Un fragmento irregular de color....

Given that we're talking about a neoplasia, I would have leaned towards the RC being "remisión completa" (CR1-CR5), but then I wondered why that would be on a pathology report, the pathologist wouldn't be telling the surgeon/physicians that. I also thought of "radiocirugía", but again doesn't make sense in this context.

Could anyone shed some light?
Thanks in advance!

Possible sample ID I consulted with a trusted surgeon and he could not tell me what it means, but his pathologist suggested it might be the internal code for sample identification. They indicated some labs use letter coding only.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
Joseph Tein Oct 1, 2022:
Yes, you certainly would not have a statement about a "remisión completa" in the middle of a description of biopsy findings.

Cosnautas has over 40 possible meanings of RC but none of the ones they list appears to fit in this biopsy context (www.cosnautas.com)

Buena suerte ... esperemos a ver qué dicen los colegas!

I have seen English acronyms also used in medical reports in Spanish or some other languages. This might be the case in this report.
For example, it may refer to Rotated Components (RC), but hard to tell totally.

Residual cancer?

Grade 5: No residual invasive cancer - https://ctep.cancer.gov/highlights/docs/symmans.pdf
A low grade number (grade 1) usually means the cancer is slower-growing and less likely to spread. A high grade number (grade 3) means a faster-growing cancer - the same link
What does no residual carcinoma mean?

The grade is from 1 to five and as you have noticed, I suppose, I think it's not infrequent English abbreviations appear in the text of other languages. If you want I’ll give you examples, but I think it’s not necessary.
