Context:
I. La Sociedad W junto con otros inversores, aportó fondos para una inversion en Espana en la empresa X, atraves de la sociedad Y, resultando dicha inversion fallida por razones que no son del caso exponer.
II. Como consencuenca de la inversion fallida .... la sociedad Y ha recibido una demanda por parte de X, *** a la que ha sucedido procesalmente *** Z (another different company).
I am not sure whether Z is bringing the claim on behalf of X or whether they have joined X's claim.
Sorry about the use of W, X. Y and Z but I can't put the company names for reasons of confidentiality.
Context:

I am unsure 'perpetual succession' - as an advantage of a body corporate vs. a private individual - in UK & US company & partnership law is the way to go. Otherwise, 'surrogate' in US Am law is a 'judicial officer of limited jurisdiction'..

: I think you're right about "substituted" rather than "succeeded" in English. And yes, the above disagree seems rather pedantic, since it doesn't address the substance of your suggestion, plus "who" is fine in any case.
