Y acariciando el rostro de Teseo le explicó que el Minotauro era la vergüenza de Creta, y la suya propia y apiadándose de la bestia, pensaba en qué vida puede disfrutar sin amor. Pidió a Teseo que le prometiese, que si volvía le llevase con él y Teseo dio su promesa a Ariadna.
