A Steinway grand piano, illuminated by a floor lamp, reigned solitary on the stage.
A solitary Steinway grand piano, illuminated by a floor lamp, rested majestically on the stage.
(...) sat/rested/stood majestically on the stage?
I've been trying to come up with way to convey this with the same grandiosity as "reigned" but don't know if I'm capturing it. Comment: "Thanks so much to everyone! It was helpful to have this feedback. I preferred this version, but the client and author opted for my alternate version: A lone Steinway grand piano (...) sat majestically on the stage"
