Person1: I didn't tell Mara. I'm telling the truth. We can't
stand the sight of each other.
Person2: But you can sit the sight of each other.
Person3: It's no time for jokes.
Person2: I'm sorry. Okay.
I understand it's just for a joke as opposed to the word stand. As far as I know, it's meaningless. But does it mean anything that I'm not aware of? to sith the sight of sth..? Is there such a thing?

I agree with your opinion that it's only used here as a fun word to add a bit of humor to the writing! Nothing else.

It's a play on words: you can't stand... but you can sit. Person 2 is being silly. In this case, "I can't be stand the sight of her" obviously has nothing to do with literally standing or sitting. [To give another example of this sort of pun, ifPerson 1 had said "I can't bear her", Person 2 might have responded "But you can cat her".]

Yes, it is difficult! I think you have to find another sort of wordplay that works in your target language.

Note from asker:
You know, the real challenge is when you try to translate this in another language that doesn't have the same exact vocabulary. :) |

: I may be impossible to translate the pun. I would just translate its usual meaning.

Discussion
We can't tolerate the sight of each other.
But you can tolerate the sound of each other.
