The Global CPI® Exam Committee uses psychometrically sound practices to develop Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) examinations that meet the current test specifications as determined by the most recent Job Task Analysis (JTA). Committee members will provide content expertise to the ongoing development of the CPI certification examinations. The CPI® (Certified Principal Investigator) credential is awarded to a PI (principal investigator) who has met eligibility requirements, demonstrated proficiency of specific knowledge and job‐related skills, and passed the standardized ACRP PI Certification exam.

The ACRP also offers other certifications, such as Clinical Research Associate (CRA) and Clinical Physician Investigator (CPI).
