I have never heard the term "financial technician" before in US English. I decided to do a little more digging and I found that the position "financial technician" does exist. But it seems to be more prevalent term in the public sector. See link: https://www.indeed.com/q-Finance-Technician-jobs.html?vjk=6c... However, "financial/tax analyst" is much more common in my experience.

Accounting and Taxation Technician

I once joined an Accounting and Taxation Technician revision course in Central London at a University Accounting, Tax and Law School that shall remain nameless - and there certainly was a lot more tox it than book-keeping and auditing: like tax calculations including foreign VAT / the reverse charge to punish non-VAT payers, consolidation of a/cs, transfer pricing and balance sheet analysis.
