Could you please help me translate the phrase "with dissolution" into Spanish?
This is the sentence: "There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution".
Context: This statement is taken from the short story of Edgar Allan Poe, which is called La Masque of the Red Death. I think that it cannot be translated into "con disolución".

Recuerdo haber traducido un fragmento de La peste de Camus en el máster de literaria. Estoy de acuerdo en que, en este caso, significa muerte. Sin embargo, en mi opinión es un fragmento descriptivo y muy duro de la crueldad de esta enfermedad y del sufrimiento que produce en las personas que la padecen hasta que, finalmente, consiguen morir. La opción que más me gusta es "expirar". Mi sugerencia para toda la frase sería algo como: se produce un dolor atroz, un vértigo repentino, la sangre brota con abundancia por los poros y llega la expiración. Te adjunto otros sinónimos de muerte por si no te gustan mis opciones.

Hola José Pablo: `como comento con Toni, creo que "dissolution" es un eufemismo, pero no me parece que quede natural en español.
No me parece mal nombrar la muerte, porque la descripción del original es dura y realista, pero también se podría buscar un eufemismo del tipo "extinción de la vida" o "fallecimiento".
Algunas ideas por si ayuda:
- "... dolores agudos, vértigo repentino y luego sangrado abundante por los poros seguido por la muerte."
- "... dolores agudos, vértigo repentino y luego sangrado abundante por los poros con extinción de la vida."
- "... dolores agudos, vértigo repentino y luego sangrado abundante por los poros antes del estertor final."
- "... dolores agudos, vértigo repentino y luego sangrado abundante por los poros antes de exhalar el último suspiro."

: Sin duda es la muerte a lo que alude el genial Poe (autor de mi predilección), pero él lo hace de un modo muy metafórico (lee mi nota a José Pablo). // Dissolution (aquí): disintegration, destruction, death (era el proceso habitual de la peste).

Hola Toni, muy bien explicado. Entiendo que "dissolution" es un eufemismo de la época para referirse a la muerte, pero la traducción literal no me acaba de convencer. Muchas gracias.
