Surface cleanliness

Prior to mechanical preparation, all surfaces must be free from grease, oil or soluble salts and other impurities (see also section 8.8).
Contaminated surfaces should be cleaned by washing with low pressure water, if necessary, with the addition of biodegradable cleaning agents.

After mechanical preparation, the surfaces must be free from the substances mentioned and free of dust. The absence of dust is, where demanded, to produce to a degree of M1 (DIN Technical Report 28) by blowing and/or suction of the surface.
