Spanish term

para arriba

Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Expression from novel
Hola a todos,

Me gustaría saber si alguien me podría ayudar con la expresión "para arriba". Lo encontré en el libro 'La Sombra del Viento' por Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

Aparece así en el texto:
"Estuvo hasta las cuatro de la mañana chillando, tratándola de zorra para arriba y jurándole que la iba a meter a monja..."

Dado el contexto, me suena algo como "y encima"...

Muchas gracias de antemano!

Saludos,
Matt

Are you looking for a translation or an explanation of the term? The idea is that he called her lots of things, the mildest of which was "zorra"

and worse

"...calling her a slut and worse..."
Mi interpretación, como si dijera «tratándola de zorra y cosas peores».

agree Rowena Galavitz : I agree with this translation in this context, but I think it's important to point out that "para arriba" can have many different meanings in other contexts.

neutral philgoddard : I'm sure you're right, but English references aren't helpful.

Oh, I thought they were, my bad!
agree neilmac : I'm afraid I don't know what Phil is talking about - English references are helpful to show usage and context.

Thank you, Neil. It might be that one of them includes someone with a high political profile, which may cause some unwanted controversy. That is my guess.

"Para arriba" significa en este caso que además de tratarla de zorra, la insultó incluso de manera más grave. "Zorra" siendo en este caso el insulto más leve, con el que empezó.
