Swedish term

elektroniklinjen

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
I have a customer who wants his report card translated. He insists that I translate "Elektroniklinjen" as "Electrical Engineering Program". The transcript from 1988 includes algebra, analys/calculus, informationsteknik, digitalteknik, datorstöd problemlösning, signaler och system, microdatorkonstruktion; tillämpad electronik.

Would this be a type of "Electronics program" instead of an "Electrical Engineering program" (which would be "Elektrotekniklinjen"?. It looks like he only completed 50 of 80 credits. I

Like your client said. 'Teknik' combined with several other sciences generally translates to Engineering.

Here's some confirmation -- "En utbildning inom elektroteknik eller ”Electrical engineering" (som det heter på engelska)" (In the Jobb och Framtid section)

Well, I'm presuming in 1988 they didn't have the same Swe designation. The courses stated fit into the computer-oriented university EE degrees I was acquainted with (back when). But yeah, that was a few years ago!
agree Paul Gratwick : From a cursory study, it appears that the terms use reflect the level of difficulty and the length of the course, which in Sweden is indicated by the number of points. I think you need more background information.

Electronics program

From a cursory study, it seems to depend on the difficulty level and length of the course your client took. I surmise that a “Elektronik linje” would not be as comprehensive as a full “Electrical Engineering” program. Maybe that's why he wants you to use Electrical Engineering because it looks better! I could be wrong, though!
