Two jejuno–jejunal (J–J) linear anastomoses were created per pig. A small midline laparotomy was made and a loop of small bowel was exteriorized and transected with a stapler. The two ends were placed in opposing direction and approximated with two stitches placed on the anti-mesenteric borders of the intestine. Enterotomies were then created in both bowel limbs adjacent to each other. Two staple lines were fired through the enterotomies in opposing directions to create a functional end-to-end anastomosis. The enterotomies were then closed with a single running layer of vicryl suture.
