amenazas físicas y de su integridad

Threatening them with physical harm and death?

No sé si estoy tergiversando el mensaje. En todo caso, el original está mal redactado.

Muchas gracias por su ayuda

Toni Castano Dec 2, 2020:
For what it´s worth The usual expression (at least in Spain) is "amenazas a/contra la integridad física". "Amenazas físicas y de la/su integridad" is a colloquialism, nonsensical actually, so I agree with David and Luis.
Luis M. Sosa Dec 1, 2020:
De acuerdo con David Está mal escrito, pienso que debería ser 'amenzas físicas a su integridad'. Pero el original se entiende.
David Hollywood Dec 1, 2020:
la verdad que está mal escrito

threats to their physical/bodily integrity

I think the phrase is redundant. A physical threat is a threat to one's physical/personal/bodily integrity.

Now, if the text had added "life," then there would be two different ideas:

**a major threat to life or physical integrity**, and does not include a series of non-life- threatening traumatic events as a causative factor. • A review of the literature ..

... **threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of self** or others

**Bodily integrity is the inviolability of the physical body**

There are lots of examples of 'threats to [one's] physical integrity':

From Linguee:
Me preocupa la aparición de este rentable pero repulsivo fenómeno, que amenaza la integridad física de los individuos. europarl.europa.eu

I am worried by the appearance of this profitable but repulsive phenomenon, which threatens the physical integrity of individuals.

threatening their physical and mental integrity

I’d probably use “physical and mental integrity”, which is the wording used in the majority of human rights conventions.

Thank you for the feedback, in hindsight I agree someone reporting a crime wouldn’t probably use this jargon...

threats of violence and of harm to life and limb

integridad física: life & limb, West. Integrity often means intactness in this context.

Pace Phil G., assault in ENG tort & criminal law is, strictly, the threat or fear instilled - a menacing figure or his dangerious dog at the window - of violence whilst battery is the actual application of force. ABH - low-level actual bodily harm like a single, non-lethal punchvs. GBH: grievous bodily harm.

Translators & interpreters of integrity may care to comment.
Example sentence:

In an act of physical violence, assault refers to the act which causes the victim to apprehend imminent physical harm, while battery refers to the actual act causing the physical harm.

crimes committed or likely to be committed in the course of terrorist activities against life, limb, personal freedom or property europa.eu [...] en el curso de actividades terroristas contra la vida, la integridad física, la libertad de las personas .
