Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Barbara Carrara

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Can you confirm my findings?

About the distributor:
'iStorage has fast become recognised as a leading innovator and supplier of ultra-secure, easy to use and affordable portable data storage devices.'

This confirms the status of a distributor.

As mentioned in the discussion, the phrase is not in native language. Such products are mostly manufactured in East Asia with instructions for use. Translations from East Asian languages often contain errors. So 'solid' was also used incorrectly here. What is meant is a steady light. The text contains further instructions for the other LEDs, always with flashing and steady light. And everywhere it says 'the LED blinks and becomes solid or switch to a solid blue/green/red LED'. Solidifying the LED' is technical nonsense.
Tony M Oct 31, 2020:
@ Asker By the way, 'solid' isn't terribly good technical EN, suggesting this document might have been written by a non-native speaker of EN — so you may need to watch out for other 'quirky' uses of language!

You make me laugh. Those who master french know that here "Fixe" is the right term and is synonymous of "continue" or "permanente".

LED ROUGE continue (constante, permanente ou allumée en continue)

Here the term "solid" has nothing to do with ""fixed" or "strong", but with "constant".

RED Solid | Locked device (in either Standby or Reset states)
RED - Fade Out | Device Turning off to the Idle State
GREEN Blinking | Unlocked device as Admin
GREEN Solid | Unlocked device as User
(not connected to USB port) or device in User mode

• If the device is not connected to a USB port, press and hold down the SHIFT( ^ ) button for a second until the LED turns solid RED and fades out to the Idle State (off)

RED, GREEN and BLUE LEDs blink once in sequence then the GREEN LED blinks twice and finally switches to a solid RED LED indicating the drive is in Standby.

My context translation:
« Les LED ROUGE, VERT et BLEU clignotent une fois de suite, puis la LED VERTE clignote deux fois et enfin passe à une LED ROUGE continue (constante, permanente ou allumée en continue) indiquant que le lecteur est en veille. »

La LED Rouge continue est remplacée par la LED Vert continue – La minuterie de verrouillage automatique est désactivée

Sur l'affichage multifonctions, en plus de la LED verte « Ready » allumée en continu, la LED rouge « Drop » clignote.

disagree Tony M : None of these terms are the ones I am used to seeing, and most of your refs. appear to be translations. It's nothing to do with 'fixation', this is just the standard FR word for it, as our native-speaker colleagues have said.

I cited the ST and it does not deal with LED fixation, but with steady lighting. // What is more reliable than 2 original user instructions?
disagree david henrion : Not really sorry

I understand. Please do not retaliate, but check the reliabiliy.
