Spanish term

concurrencia

Spanish to English Social Sciences Government / Politics Colombian news article
¡Hola! I'm translating the following news report about the case against former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe: https://www.elcolombiano.com/colombia/estas-son-las-pruebas-...

In the following section, I cannot understand the meaning of "concurrencia." Does this refer to the simultaneity in which the crimes (soborno y fraude procesal) were committed? "The examination of the evidence sufficiently proves that [the crimes] were committed simultaneously"?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I'm tired and that's why it's not making much sense. Will take a break and come back later. :)
Toni Castano Aug 12, 2020:
@María Teresa My pleasure! I´m, say, quite sure that your expression refers to "concurrencia de delitos" (you just need to read the previous paragraph). However, you have the full context and can assess the real meaning of the expression in this context much better. Good luck.
María Teresa Taylor Oliver (asker) Aug 12, 2020:
¡Gracias, Toni! Colombian Spanish is already especially... "special" among the varieties of LatAm Spanish :) But Colombian legal Spanish is even more so!
Toni Castano Aug 12, 2020:
@María Teresa I´m posting an interesting link to a previous Kudoz question asked some years ago. Although I´m not fully sure (it´s Colombian law) about the meaning, I understand "concurrencia de delitos" means exactly the same as "concurso de delitos" (the usual expression in Spain), in which case the following link might be very helpful:

participation

I believe in this case what is being said is that it has been established "con suficiencia" that Uribe was a participant in the crimes charged. Or it could be "involvement," but I think here "participation" is better.
See from the DLE entry for "concurrencia":
"4. f. Asistencia, participación."

agree Chema Nieto Castañón : I also read the Spanish original this way; Uribe's participation (in the crimes being alleged)

I think there's a difference between participation/involvement & collusion/connivance, at least in the connotation.
