Whenever you hear the Profi word, it's a bit more flashy. It's more like saying these people are experts; they're accomplished; they know what they're doing..

Most people can figure out how to translate Verarbeiter and Einkäufer. I was more interested in "Profi", where my take differs from others.

These are the people who you can meet and talk with at the exhibition to get them to do business with you. Verarbeiter is actually more something like processor, but in this context I would use manufacturer.

1) Because this is Messe XX (and nobody is blaming you for keeping that confidential), the translation for Verarbeiter needs to remain generic. Whether they are processors, manufacturers or artisans, they are all providers.
2) Purchasers as a synonym for buyers (stand by for howls of complaint)

I just discussed this term with my customer, telling him that I find "Verarbeiter" in this context misleading.
He therefore suggested the use of "Profi-Handwerker" (instead of Verarbeiter)
