"Extract from the 'Civil Status Registry' for 1985" was assessed as a correct translation instead of "Extract from the register of civil state certificates in 1985", though birth, marriage and death records are certification of birth, marriage and death, held securely by local authority registry.

: These are simply BMD records and not 'state' records, you have completely misunderstood 'état civil' which is a TERM (i.e. the Births, Marriage and Deaths Registry) and not two separate isolated words. You simply cannot translate by this method!!!!
