Hello!

The term appears in the maintenance description for slab tracks, the text specifically talks about repair methods. I don't really know how to translate "floats". Does anyone have an idea?

Context:

The chosen bonding layer material is to be brushed on the surface.
Immediately after that the respective repair mortar is to be filled into the defect hollows.
If there is need of repair of small holes, it can be done by a chosen filling compound and floats.
