That of course is possible, and again, the wider context should make this clear as it is difficult to judge the original nature of a complete text, probably of quite a big volume, from just two or three stand-alone entries.

Mmm.. in that case wouldn't the English rather say "isolation valve return state contact" ? But I do agree that some wider context and/or related terms would help.

Unlike Frank, my instinctive interpretation would be 'the contact on the isolation valve that indicates it is in the returned state'
As an aside, do note that in many similar contexts FR 'contact' in fact means EN 'microswitch', which seems a possibly more plausible element for your parts list.
