As for the term: I suspect, having slept on it, that it probably means "sale template". Obviously one translation of "matrice" is "mould".

Couldn't agree more — I've often contacted people to get information "straight from the horse's mouth", and invariably found them immensely helpful; the Port of London Authority (no less!) gave me a thorough, detailed answer to one question. On another occasion, a KudoZ question concerned a mini-bio of a person, whom I subsequently contacted for clarification; ironically enough, my definitive answer from the man himself was not selected by the KudoZ asker :-/ — so it appears they must have preferred to use a downright wrong answer in their translation!

I still think it's the best option if no one here can come up with a satisfactory answer. As I said, I have contacted people out of the blue in the past on the basis of what I read from or about them on the Net and the results were quite positive. I remember contacting London solicitors who happened to have business dealings with Paris solicitors, where I found someone who knew the term I was researching in both languages. A different kind of network, but it works too.

On a different note: matrice can mean "register" if that's any help. For instance: matrice cadastrale

@ph-b, Tony I've studiously avoided joining LinkedIn but just signed up solely for that purpose: it's a good suggestion. Unfortunately you have to pay or something to send a message to "une inconnue". I then clicked the wrong button, meaning she will receive an invitation to "link up" or whatever with "un inconnu" with a silly made-up name.

@Tony: there's nothing there: it's a header (as in header/footer).

I don't have any problem imagining a matrix or grid of the propertues available for sale... but it all depends what it goes on to say about them...
