The U.K. was the best performer in the Index, with postive returns. The strongest sectors were Utilities and Financials ex-Banks in December, significantly outperforming most sectors. The weakest performers were Information Technology and Communication Services. Although, economic data out of the U.K. and the broader European region remained weak, Boris Johnson’s Conservative party’s victory in the general election improved the Brexit outlook and propped up the British pound and U.K. equities.
