Since aging is a relational process in which “the privileged position of one group relies on the disadvantaged position of another” (Calasanti & Slevin, 2001, p. 3), a woman’s experience of aging is related to her social location in terms of her age, class, sexual preference, physical ability, and racial/ethnic affiliation, which collectively circumscribe her access to social and economic resources.
