Trade surplus

A trade surplus is an economic measure of a positive balance of trade, where a country's exports exceed its imports. Trade Balance = Total Value of Exports - Total Value of Imports.
A current account surplus means an economy is exporting a greater value of goods and services than it is importing. A country with a current account surplus will have a deficit on the financial/capital account. i.e. a country with a current account surplus will have surplus foreign exchange it can use to invest in other countries.
Example sentence:

A current account surplus indicates that the value of a country's net foreign assets (i.e. assets less liabilities) grew over the period in question, and a current account deficit indicates that it shrank. Both government and private payments are included
