English term

tough and challenging excursion

English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation
I am looking for a description of a tough outdoor adventure, kind of excursion or a rally that consists of travelling a given route. After this trip everyone is dead tired and completely worn out, but happy because the experience was excellent. Also everyone is thinking about doing it again, just not the next day but maybe next month. This trip may be on foot, on bicycle (in really tough conditions), in some kind of motor vehicle as well. Is there a good word or expression for that?

@ Asker Is it a name for the company or the activity? I'm still not sure what the activity is? It seems like a hike/trek if following a trail (on foot or by bike) but you say it can be "some kind of motor vehicle as well". A rally is by car, with special kinds of "rally cars" but is not done by bike or on foot. Hence the difficulty coming up with a word that covers all. But "challenge" is definitely the best word here. Maybe "Challenging Pursuits" or something similar or even just "Challenge Yourself" or "Take the Challenge"

I am looking for a name that will have the meaning the same that I mentioned but be understandable to an english native. It would be great for a one or two word name, as the original name in polish is just one name.

@ Asker I don't quite know what you are looking for? Synonyms? For what? You have given 4 different examples so which one of these 4 is it? adventure/excursion/ rally OR trip? These 4 words are NOT synonymous!! And WHY do you need the description? Where is it to be used? NONE of the answers so far seem to be any improvement whatsoever on what you already have, but then the answerers must be psychic if they understood what you want! And I disagree with Phil. Challenging and tough do NOT necessarily mean the same thing

You already have it! Tough and challenging excursion. Although you don't need both adjectives as they have a similar meaning.

challenging and rewarding trip/trail/adventure

The choice between trip/trail/adventure (or excursion) may vary depending on your particular context.

agree Katya Kesten : I think "rewarding" is key here, so tough (/challenging) but rewarding whatever it is.

type 2 trip

"Type 2 fun" is a common expression especially among endurance sports enthusiasts. I often use it as an ultra/OCR runner and sports journalist myself. In a nutshell it's fun talking about it over a pint afterwards but you felt miserable doing it. "Type two trip" makes an alliteration too.

Someone there used this expression in a comment: "Yeah…I took a break from Type 2 bikepacking to do a nice Type 1 bicycle tour in Ohio this year.
Already dreaming up the next Type 2 trip to compensate…"
