Contour Lines:

Contour lines are used to show the depth of the water. These are lines which join points of equal depth. For example a line showing the figure 3 means that the depth all along the line is three feet. It should be noted that contour lines never cross each other. The contour interval on the map is merely the difference in depth between each contour line.
