Spanish term

grada de animación

Spanish to English Social Sciences Sports / Fitness / Recreation Football
Part of a Spanish football stadium stand. I understand it as a specific area for standing (?) and singing, etc.

tifo zone

Not sure this concept really exists outside of Spanish football. Presumably all fans who attend a match are there to cheer their club along, but the grada de animación is for die-hard supporters, the kind who often create large displays and chant/sing the whole way through. The Italian word 'tifo' is widely understood in soccer circles, as referring to the most enthusiastic supporters, so I would suggest something along these lines.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daniel Hall : It's true that "tifo" is an understood term in the football world, but I've never heard anyone say "tifo zone".

it's a suggested coining for something that does not have an equivalent in English
agree philgoddard : Or tifo section. This is not a well known concept, but since the Spanish goes on to explain it, I think it's fine here.

Tifo section is probably better. I have found it here: http://qatarcultureclub.blogspot.com/2013/05/tifo-culture.ht... with an explanation that no sitting is allowed, constant chanting expected, etc.

Thank you!
neutral philgoddard : This doesn't do justice to the concept in my opinion. Most of the crowd will be home supporters, but they won't be chanting and waving flags the whole time.

supporters' section

In the United States, "supporters' section" is almost universally used, and it's the term I always use.
Example sentence:

The loudest part of every football stadium is the supporters' section.
