abstract
Estimados colegas:
Estoy haciendo la traducción de un estudio. En la parte de diseño dice: "Estudio de tipo observacional, analítico, longitudinal y prospectivo".
Sé lo que significa cada uno de los términos y sé cómo se traducen de manera individual. Mi pregunta es ¿es necesario traducir los cuatro adjetivos o alguno de ellos podría quedar implícito y obviarse?
Muchas gracias.

an analytic observational study that is both longitudinal and prospective
All the words have exact cognates in English. The problem is how to arrange them.

If you are referring to several studies, then the answer would be:
'studies that are analytic, observational, and either longitudinal or prospective'

: No, it should be exactly the same in English as in Spanish. It's not unusal for clinical study titles to have long strings of adjectives separated by commas.

I'm at a loss here, but I found a study which seems to have been translated from portuguese and has been uploaded to the NCBI.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30810630
METHODS: Cohort, analytical, observational, longitudinal and prospective study...
Is this not Ok?

I don't agree that studies are either prospective or longitudinal. Longitudinal means following a cohort over a period of time. Prospective means that the outcome you are testing for is not present when the cohort is recruited. Longitudinal studies may or may not be prospective; they may alternatively be retrospective, for example. A prospective longitudinal study is one kind of longitudinal study design; therefore the order should be this, and not "longitudinal prospective".

"Analytical" and "observational" are found both ways round, implying that you can see analytical as one kind of observational or observational as one kind of analytical. However, I think the right order is "analytical observational".
