Osteosynthesis
From the instructions for washing materials in a Spanish hospital:
The materials are divided into categories, and the specific instruction of osteosynthesis materials states:
Many thanks

= taraud > tap
This doesn't make any sense unless it's a spelling mistake for "taraud", which sounds the same: /taro/. I think it must be. "Taraud" is a French word, and the English equivalent seems to be "tap".
Here's a KudoZ FR-EN question on taraud in this context, which gives "tap", with "bone tap" in the reference:

With a picture.

There are some "tarauds" for osteosynthesis with illustrations in this catalogue, which is searchable:
http://synthes.vo.llnwd.net/o16/LLNWMB8/INT Mobile/Synthes I...
Anyway, I think "tap" would be a safe bet:
https://www.interglot.com/dictionary/fr/en/search?q=taraud
It seems to be for cutting the thread in bone for a screw. In this catalogue there are "tap drills", but

Sorry, my explanation got garbled. The last paragraph was supposed go earlier, and I meant to continue: "but I don't know whether "tarauds" could refer to them", with this reference (see pp. 5-6):

Charles Davis
: Where did you find awl for pasamachos, Liz? An awl is normally called a "punzón" and it's for perforating, not cutting screw threads.

tap drill / tap
After drilling holes of 2.5 mm in diameter and tapping with a 3.5-mm tap, stainless steel cortical screws with a diameter of 3.5 mm and lengths of 26 mm to 32 mm were placed bicortically

En fin, aunque he seguido una intuición que resultó equivocada, he terminado por llegar a la misma conclusión que Charles (aunque por un camino muuucho más largo). Sólo por compartir parte del viaje -y por si sirve;
plural dies: any of various tools or devices for imparting a desired shape, form, or finish to a material or for impressing an object or material: such as
b: a hollow internally threaded screw-cutting tool used for forming screw threads

Tap
a tool for forming an internal screw thread

Discussion
Here's a (veterinary) "Taraud/pasamachos mango en T":
http://www.bbraun-vetcare.es/producto/taraud-pasamachos-mang...
It's exactly like the tap drill with T handle in one of my sources:
http://www.medimetal.hu/sites/default/files/products_catalog... (top p. 6).
More veterinary "pasamachos" and "taps" here; they're the same thing
