Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): mchd

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

More context It turns out that the phrase actually means that an accounting tool (SAP, I just found further context in the document) will be locked over a given period so that no one can make any entries into it until it is unlocked. The heading actually refers to the locking process. I finally translated the phrase as "Locking posting periods". Sounds strange, but believe me it is right for my context. Thanks to you all and sorry for not providing more context as I didn't have it myself.

Contexte @Germaine

must plan the year-end accounting process in advance of the year end...

Great! When I said context, I meant a few sentences of French, but I hope my answer will fit.
Julius Ngwa (asker) Feb 25, 2019:
Hi Phil,

I will award points. The context is accounting in general in the context of a company.
philgoddard Feb 25, 2019:
Hi Julius Will you be choosing an answer and awarding points? Also, could we have the context, please?

Note from asker:
Thanks, Patricia That's quite similar to my tentative translation: accounting and cost accounting closing. What do you think? Thanks in advance

financial and management accounting closure

I think "analytique" refers to management accounting, ie accounts used in decision making rather than for statutory reporting purposes. Depending on the context, you could also say 'year/period end'.

You also suggest "cost accounting", which is another possibility, though you can't repeat "accounting" as you do in your suggestion.

neutral philgoddard : Like I said, you can't repeat "accounting". It's like saying "buses and red buses" - one is a subset of the other.

Sorry! La comptabilite {generale} et la comptabilite analytique ne sont pas des sujets qui s'intersectent. L'une evalue les comptes du bilan, alors que l'autre determine les couts des biens et des services.
