durée inter-averse (DIA)

DIA seems to be translated by dry spell in the following abstract:
https://irsteadoc.irstea.fr/oa/PUB00001563-apport-modelisati...
so I may very well have understood the concept wrong, but in any case, this is what I found :
durée inter-averse
durée sèche
durée sèche inter-averse
Example sentence:

On définit alors la variable NG qui est le nombre de périodes pluvieuses par événement pluvieux, et la variable DIA (en heure) qui est la durée sèche entre deux périodes pluvieuses.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : I think that isn't quite the same thing — the s/term doesn't imply there is not rain at all, but simply how long before a certain rainfall occurs again (but it might not be totally dry in between)

Right. I couldn't find anything so subtle in French. So either there's no research on that aspect (odd considering they had 15 years to catch up), or I didn't persevere enough.
disagree pascie : inter-averse n'est pas correct, cf. explication donnée.
