Discussion
Just one point: parts that are punched out of a sheet of material are more likely to be called 'stampings' (which cannot be the 'holes').
Hence more usually:
'punching' = aperture
'stamping' = flat part
An the the same distinction exists in French.
I do not know if the FR term for 'the action of punching' can also be used in this way as it is in EN.
