strive to bear fruit
we need to strive to bear fruit
Literally it means "to endeavour to bear (produce) fruit", but I would say that "strive" fits better in this particular context, as we're not speaking about a single act of bearing fruit and then going back to life as usual, but rather we need to continuously strive to produce fruit in our life till the day of judgment

== BEGIN QUOTE ==
Provoke has an edge of intrusion in it. If we are to provoke one another, I think we first have to provoke ourselves. We have to stir up ourselves. We need to love ourselves. We have to know that first God loves us and then we love ourselves before we can love others. Perhaps later then, we can have mutual encouragement.
<...>
To provoke ourselves or one another is to be stirred up by life, to “let our hearts take us where we are needed.”
“It is not a matter of thinking much”, said Teresa of Avila, “so do whatever most kindles love in you.”
<...>
We need to then take a new stance – to love ourselves and then love others.
God is already doing it.
Once we provoke ourselves to love, then we can move forward.

Потому что in other words, "we are motivated by the Spirit" or provoked, not to try and make an attemp or something else. In order to bring fruit, we should get motivated by the Spirit, not just by our intention or will, it is the will of God, Spirit will lead and we bring fruit, it means IMHO
