En principio pensé que podía ser "determinar o establecer el alquiler", (El Arrendador determinará el alquiler variable) pero en el segundo párrafo aparece "determine", así que he pensado que "settle" podría ser liquidar, pero no me cuadra que el "Arrendador liquide el Alquiler". Aquí va el contexto.

The Variable Rent shall be settled by the Landlord within the thirty (30) days following to the reception of the information and documentation of the annual Turnover provided by the Tenant.

Once the Variable Rent is determined on the basis of the Turnover, the procedure shall be as follows

(a) If there is Variable Rent applicable for the year in question, the Landlord shall issue an invoice for the Variable Rent applicable, to be settled by the Tenant within not more than ten (10) days after receiving the invoice from the Landlord;
