Discussion

Kitty Brussaard Jan 21, 2018:
Agree with Michael As the term is used in an accounting context, I think 'balanced' is the best/safest choice here. Cf. FR solder les comptes >> balance the accounts and see also the following links:

Michael Beijer Jan 21, 2018:
I'd probably translate it as "balanced /closed" or "settled/closed"...
WillJohnson (asker) Jan 21, 2018:
Hello Michael, It was not a typo and it is called solderen, gesoldeerd several times in the whole investigation report. I never heard of this term either. The document origin is Belgium-Dutch
Michael Beijer Jan 20, 2018:
typo? never heard of "een rekening solderen"
however, "een rekening salderen" is of course a known concept

i.e., looks like the accounts were balanced/closed

balanced /closed

As per my discussion entries, etc. Just to be clear: I think I would translate it as: "balanced /closed". That is, using both, instead of only "balanced" or only "closed".

settled, cleared

according to Van Dale, solderen means to sell at a low price or to sell out or up/clear out. Belgian term.
In this context sounds like it means to 'settle' or clear the account.

By association with French:
1. (Business) balance
