I think in the question being asked, the defendant is just being summoned to appear immediately in the JP's courtroom. He might be supposed to see the JP for hearing/trial, but not necessarily so. Actually in this context, the summons is most likely NOT for hearing/trial. It was more likely issued for some emergent matter. Therefore, it might have nothing to do with 审理.
