what do you understand by "diary pages"?

I would imagine that, while preparing the book, the author kept a journal to record his observations (animals seen, where, when, alone or not, season, weather, size etc. etc.) and these are included in the book to make it more interesting and more immediate for the reader (who may be inspired to make their own notes)

I think if the pages were intended for the reader's notes it would just be "blank" pages. But I think you should really check with the client to be sure

: I would imagine it to be a combination of what you can expect to happen and space for the reader to add what actually happened

Thanks Sheila but it turns out they are 30 pages left for the reader to make observations

: Rather than guessing, it's better to find the book itself, which is easily googled using the extract provided by the Asker. Of course, the Asker could have done that himself.

yes, it's clear from the extra context/reviews but it should be journal pages or safari diary pages rather than "diary pages" which looks weird.

Thanks Mark. It depends what sort of notes the user makes; those with more literary inclinations will make journal entries, for others the date and "saw a gorilla today" will be the limit.
