agree entirely on that. Couldn't be better said.
But making a translation that means that you must take the goods all the way to your home / your home country THAT is not an overtranslation., but plainly a mistranslation - a plainly wrong instruction to visitors from outside the EU.
"take home with you" is a [rather inaccurate] attempt to say in "simple English" that you can get the refund when you export the goods out of the EU.
You become entitled to the refund the moment you pass the custom control at some EU border point or at the airport if the flight goes out of the EU, where you go after that is in fact totally irrelevant - you may never go "back home" but to some third, fourth, fifth country, you still can claim back the VAT.
The beauty of so-called "plain English" [sarcasm intended ...]
