English term

spline broach

English to French Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Plomberie
Bonjour,

Je traduis un texte concernant des robinets et j'ai un doute concernant la traduction du terme "spline broach" dans la phrase suivante : "The wrenches are machined to an accurate finish to fit the spline broach on the inside diameter of the seat and are properly heat treated for strength and toughness".

Peut-on parler ici de "broche à cannelures" ?

Je retrouve également le termes "broach" dans la phrase suivante : "Stem should be rotated until stem broach is visible and the handwheel can be placed on the stem".

Merci d'avance de votre aide !

I think you have got it. You are correct when you say it is "broche à cannelures"

neutral Tony M : Usually, a 'spline broach' is a tool used to make internal splines on a housing; however, that doesn't really seem likely in the context here. But do note it is 'spline' not 'splined' — unless it's an error, that difference could be crucial.
