A unique feature of Study ХХХХ was that it required washout of prior DMARD treatments (except antimalarials) before entry into the trial. Placebo treatment was limited to 3 months for ethical reasons, and this washout may have contributed to higher baseline DAS28-4(ESR) values in Study ХХХХ (mean 6.61-6.71 across treatment groups) compared to the other DMARD-IR studies (6.14-6.61), thus requiring a greater degree of improvement to reach remission (DAS28-4(ESR)

Думаю, что это все-таки inadequate response или, в крайнем случае, inadequate responser. См. доп. ссылки.

Есть небольшие сомнения. IR точно не может расшифровываться как immediate release? Учитывая, что в списке сокращений значится именно такая расшифровка, а в самом тексте данная аббревиатура встречается в трех разных значениях (inadequate response, immediate release, incidence rate).
