industry boards

English to French Other Business/Commerce (general)
The new modules, capabilities, and features come to Infor EAM via a number of sources, but one of the major sources is the Infor user communities. Infor has an active, international community that provides input to the product development team. Customers are invited to participate in the online community, where there are EAM industry boards for facilities management, healthcare, manufacturing, and other industries. Infor supports the EAM product with some 160 dedicated resources across the company, a strong resource commitment that shows Infor’s dedication to the EAM product.

commissions consultatives

fait peut-être référence à des "user advisory board"

Read on for thoughts from Michael Snyder, who oversees EAM at Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission, and who chairs the EAM User Advisory Board (UAB). -

The goal of the UAB has been centered around webinars (so online activities)

disagree Daryo : you make it sound like some formal body - "une commission" - while the clue is in the preceding part "online" => it's a group of "electronic bulletin boards" [http://www.eamforum.com/eamforum/] / in fact, comparable to Proz forums ...

neutral Tony M : It says in their information that these are 'online communities'.

les conseils d'administration de l'industrie

my take
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Wouldn't make any sense at all in the context as given here. These are 'boards' ABOUT certain subjects — nothing to do with 'boards of directors' etc;

neutral writeaway : EAM industry boards, so not just industry boards. full context: https://www3.technologyevaluation.com/research/article/infor...

disagree Daryo : you don't get "un conseil d'administration" for a whole industry - wouldn't work even if it was some old fashioned now defunct "board", a formal industry wide body like "The gas board" or "the electricity board"!

English term (edited): (bulletin) board

panneau d'affichage (électonique)

As this is talkng about online resources, I am convinced this is referring to 'bulletin boards', almost invariably these days shortened to 'boards' — the origiinal forerunner of 'blogs' or 'forums'.

Although my suggestion is the literal translation of a 'bulletin board' in the computing sense, I can't help feeling that modern readers might understand it better if you changed it to 'forums' anyway.

Thanks, Daryo! What would you suggest, then? 'bulletin boards' seem to me old hat these days?

English term (edited): [client's] industry [specific] [electronic bulletin] boards

des forums [en ligne] d'usagers, spécifique pour chaque industrie / secteur

anyone remember plain text BBs ([Electronic] Bulletin Boards)? nowadays called "forums" "discussion groups" "user groups" ...

here "industry boards" = Electronic Bulletin Boards open to users of Infor EAM, one EBB for each "industry" i.e. sector of activity of clients

Electronic Bulletin Boards

Related Terms: Newsgroups

Electronic bulletin boards (also known as message boards or as computer forums) are online communication systems where one can share, request, or discuss information on just about any subject. E-mail is a way to converse privately with one or more people over the Internet; electronic bulletin boards are public. Any visitor to a message board can read and respond to any message found there, although registration of some kind is usually required before "posting" privileges are granted. A large collection of electronic bulletin boards is known as a newsgroup. Thousands of newsgroups populate the Internet, each dedicated to a single topic. Some are dedicated to roof-repair, some to obscure computer languages, some to skin defects. You name it.

agree Tony M : Though confusingly, among those 'online communities', they do have 'industry councils' :-/

disagree GILLES MEUNIER : Ce ne sont pas des forums ici. En outre, usagers, c'est pour le transport. Ce sont des utilisateurs ici...
