The saying, “Let go and let God” is often misunderstood. Whoever originally coined that phrase was probably thinking about the Law of Attachment: if your happiness or sense of self-worth is dependent on having something, then you are attached to it. But “Let go and let God” does not refer to doing nothing. Rabindranath Tagore, 1913 Nobel Prize Winner in Literature, said that we can’t cross the sea merely by staring at the water.
We should not ask for what we want and wait for the “universe” to provide it. There is no point finding your purpose, drafting your goals, prioritizing them, setting deadlines, following the spiritual laws and using the power of your mind to manifest if in the end you don’t take action.
We need to purposely go after what we want. It is true that in some cases the action might be to do nothing at all, like waiting for the cake to bake, but in most cases we are going to be guided to do something: turn the oven up or down, update our resume, etc. Once we have completed that step, we will be guided to take the next step, and the next, until we reach our goal.
Once we feel we have taken all possible action, then we let go and let God. If you find that you are struggling to understand what your next step should be, it is because you haven’t formed a clear picture of what you want, and therefore your higher self can’t bring it to you. Clarity is essential.

No me he metido de lleno a buscar en Google, u otras referencias.
Te aporto un par de ideas que tal vez puedan servirte.
Había un dicho del Conde Lucanor (creo, ahora lo busco) que decía algo como:
"Yo he hecho lo que he podido, Fortuna lo que ha querido".
Si hablamos de "Fortuna" como la "diosa de la fortuna" o el destino.
Espero no ir muy desencaminado, y que lo que aporto te sea útil.

Es curioso, leyendo todo el contexto de la pregunta, también me acuerdo de lo de "A Dios rogando y con el mazo dando" o "Rézale a la Virgen, pero sigue remando", que de alguna forma dan la idea de que aunque uno le deje a Dios "las riendas", hay que seguir dándole con las espuelas al caballo, para que corra...
En cualquier caso, si debo romper una lanza por alguien, la verdad es que este tipo de preguntas me parecen interesantes y constructivas. Nos hacen pensar y afinar nuestras destrezas de traducción (y de comprensión cabal de los conceptos), al tiempo que ayudamos libremente.
En fin, buenas traducciones y buenos alimentos. :-)
