AS (medical abbreviation)

español al inglés Medicina Medicina (general)
Hi all,

I am translating a medical report and I'm struggling with the abbreviation "AS" in sentences such as the following:

Paciente que ingresa de urgencias, trasladado desde Reino Unido tras sufrir accidente de trafico. Porta escayola en MSI y tracción de partes blandas en MII. Aporta informes del centro de referencia y medicación. Firma autorización de tratamiento. Canalizada VVP, 18G en MSD. Sacada AS. Iniciada analgesia y sueroterapia.

(...)

Paciente COC
Ctes estables
Afebril. Eupneico
Diuresis espontánea.
Administrado tratamiento pautado.
Sacada AS.
Pasa la noche tranquilo.

I've checked Fernando Navarro's glossary of medical abbreviations and I could be many different things. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

systemic analgesics

What are systemic analgesics?
Systemic analgesics act on the whole nervous system, rather than a specific area, to lessen pain. They will not cause you to lose consciousness. These medications often are used during early labor to allow you to rest.

Systemic analgesics usually are given as a shot. Depending on the type of medication, the shot is given into either a muscle or a vein. In patient-controlled analgesia, you can control the amount of medication you receive through an intravenous (IV) line. This is a small tube that is placed into a vein through which medications or fluids are given.

You'll see 'Analgesia Sistémica (AS) on page 16

It could also be 'systemic analgesia'.
Peer comment(s):

agree Robert Carter : Very good. "Sacada" had me scratching my head. I was thinking of it in terms of "drawing" samples, i.e. blood, etc. - clearly a dead end.

It was a case of trial and error on Google! In the end Diuresis espontánea + constantes estables + "AS" + analgesia gave me the possible solution. Thanks, Robert!
agree Erzsébet Czopyk : You are really "Striving for perfection". Happy Easter!

The annoying thing is that perfection doesn't exist! Thank you, Erzsébet. Happy Easter to you, too :-)
